[URGENT ACTION] TUE, 5/27: Say No to 15 Years of VFA!!!

Please forward widely.

FLASH MOBILIZATION: Say No to 15 Years of VFA

Tuesday, May 27, 2014
Meet at 5:45 pm, action begins at 6:15 pm
Union Square, NYC – at the front steps across of Whole Foods

May 27th, 2014 marks 15 years since the Senate ratified the RP-US Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA). These years have resulted in a lopsided pact which paved the way for permanent US military presence in Mindanao, the Daniel Smith rape case, custody row, scores of annual military exercises, US drone attacks in the Philippines, and other forms of military intervention. Now, the VFA serves as the gateway for the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA), which "allows the prepositioning and deployment of ‘materiel’ from Philippine soil to the agreed locations operated by US troops." This dangerous and broad provision in the EDCA allows troops to be deployed from Philippine territory, making Filipinos an unwilling participant in US conflicts abroad.

Join BAYAN-USA this Tuesday to JUNK the VFA, EDCA, and to demand:

US Out of the Philippines and all Asia Pacific!
Junk VFA and New Military Access Agreements!
End the Aquino regime’s puppetry to US imperialism!
Uphold Philippines sovereignty!
Build international solidarity against US intervention, militarization and aggression!
